Use the Right Single Ply Membrane

Published 8th July 2016 John Stallard

WPS TPO or Thermoplastic polyolefin was developed and introduced initially to address the short comings of PVC. TPO’s strength is its ability to withstand UV radiation and reflects more heat than it absorbs. The white TPO is extremely reflective and the most efficient at preventing heat from being transferred into the building. TPO has a higher breaking strength in an installed situation than any other single ply systems making it more desirable in applications where penetrations are required . It’s not as flexible as rubber or PVC KEE systems during installations, but has better overall performance as an installed membrane system. WPS TPO has been in New Zealand since 2004 is now widely used in all types of roofing situations as a durable, contamination resistant, and efficient roofing membrane system.
